Cy Twombly

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, Cy Twombly is, for me, one of the most significant contemporary painters of our time, and one who has inspired my work for years.
I love how he looks like the quintessential grandpa, yet he's standing before this awesomely powerful painting.

this is phase 1 of this painting. this is the one I spent the most time with this weekend in my studio... it's undergone a surprising transformation... here is phase 2:
